Top 5 Nude Lipsticks

Top Nude Lipsticks

Nude lipstick can be a deceiving term. The best way to understand the concept behind nude lipstick is to not take the term “nude” too literally. The right shade will depend on your skin tone, and there’s no need to worry because I have compiled a list of the shades that flatter each type of skin tone. If you have fairer skin like me, I recommend trying any of my top 5 choices shown above.

Skin Tones

Fair Skin: Go for soft pink/peachy tones (Try MAC’s “Creme d’Nude”)

Medium Skin: Both beige and pink-toned nudes are flattering (Try MAC’s “Freckletone”)

Olive Skin: If you have olive skin, you’re in luck because you can choose from pink, beige, and bronze tones-they will all flatter you!

Dark Skin: Stay away from pink based nudes and go for brown or caramel-based nudes that are close to your skin color. (Try Bobbi Brown in “Hot Cocoa”)

If you’re in doubt, just remember: LESS CONTRAST.

My personal favorite nude lipstick is “Madere” by NARS (shown in the top 5). It’s probably the lightest nude shade I’ve ever found as it could probably be mistaken for cover up if it wasn’t in the lipstick section! However, if you do try out this shade, just remember to pair it with a pink colored gloss so it doesn’t wash you out. I use “Turkish Delight” gloss by NARS.

What are your favorite nude lipsticks? Have you tried any of my top 5?

  1. Great post! Thank you for sharing this. Pink color is my favorite, sometimes I want to try out a new style with a nude lipstick, but still afraid 🙂

  2. so glad you wrote what suits olive skin girls, like me. been looking for a brighter nude than my L’Oréal one. thanks fo the shade tips x

  3. I have always been afraid of nude lipsticks but seeing your choices here made me wanna give it a go again! Thanks for your recommendations! 🙂

    1. You definitely should! There are so many variations of the nude lipstick that I’m sure you’ll find one that fits! And no problem, thank you for visiting my blog ^__^

  4. Oh the BerryM #101 looks like my cup of tea actually. But i try not to wear a “nude” too often, coz since im quite pale i look pretty much washed out. All the berry shades look a bit better on me. What about you?

    1. I agree but I think as long as you add a pinky/peachy gloss over top, you won’t look washed out! The nude lipstick will kind of act as a base and to make your lips a neutral color so the gloss will look its true color 🙂 But I’m so comfortable with wearing nudes and pinks I always shy away from the darker colors which is what I need to change!

      1. Yes you are right about the nude color as a base. But i think these are two different aspects. One is using a light (nude) lipstick to give a gloss the chance to really shine and the other that most of us aren’t really wearing bold deep colors in daily life. Maybe that’s way i started wearing my fav autumn lippy 180 vintage pink by Rimmel almost every day. Coz it gives my lips enough deepness, but it’s not a flashy one, if you know what i mean! Go ahead and try a nice autumny color and see how your face changes 😉
