Brand controversy aside, I wanted to share my honest opinion of Lime Crime’s “D’Lilac” lipstick. First off, what girl doesn’t love unicorns? I was sold on this product before I even looked at the shades it came in. The ever-so-adorable purple lipstick tubes are decorated with a mirror-like glittery logo, and of course, a unicorn!
Back when Lady Gaga’s daily attire included plopping a giant bow on her head, she made a fashion statement that is what sparked my interest in lavender lipstick. The photo below remains my all time favorites of the “Little Monsters” queen.
I was eager to try out this shade, despite having my doubts. I was able to find it on Amazon, since the Lime Crime online store is always sold out of everything. I was pleasantly surprised when I applied it, as it wasn’t at all as drying as the rumors claimed it was. The formula is highly pigmented, and also much creamier than I expected. However, I had to apply almost 3 full coats just to achieve an all over coverage, so this leads me to assume that these lipsticks run out quicker than average. I also noticed that after applying it, the color slightly feathered past my lip line (see photo below), which could be prevented if Lime Crime released a set of matching lip liners!! (hint, hint).
Pro’s:
- Rich pigmented formula
- Unique color
- Reasonable price ($16)
- Fun lipstick tube design
Con’s:
- Requires 2-4 coats for a full coverage application
- Slightly feathers into the outer creases of the lips
