Revlon’s ‘Soft Nude’ is a well known dupe for MAC’s ‘Creme d’ Nude’. In the containers, these two colors do look very similar, but when applied to the lips, I really don’t see them as dupes at all. Being a loyal and somewhat obsessed MAC fan, I will make sure to keep this comparison post as unbiased as possible. Let’s begin this battle of drugstore vs. high end nude lipsticks!
I have swatched both colors on the inside of my arm so you can see the difference on a blank canvas. I think it’s important to see this difference on regular skin rather than on the lips because everyone has different pigmentation in their lips and colors can look drastically different depending on this factor. From the above photo, it’s obvious that ‘Soft Nude’ is much more orange and ‘Creme d’ Nude’ is more of a pink nude. Depending on your skin tone, ‘Soft Nude’ may not be the most flattering because of these undertones.
Another difference I noticed in the two was the amount of color in the shade. ‘Soft Nude’ seems to have a bit more color while ‘Creme d’ Nude’ is slightly more sheer – but both give an overall opaque finish. I also found ‘Soft Nude’ to be a tad drying. This most likely has something to do with the quality or ingredients in the formula.
From the photo above, you can see that ‘Creme d’ Nude’ is much more flattering on me. I have slightly pale skin and so I can’t pull off darker nudes or light browns very well. It’s important to understand what type of skin you have and what shades will flatter your unique undertones and which will not. One color may look stunning on someone but completely unflattering on another.
