Although not identical, I’ve always found these two colors to be very similar. They are both in the mint green category but Essie’s ‘Mint Candy Apple’ has a more blue tint, while American Apparel’s ‘Office’ is more green. Both are around a comparable price point, so when it comes to making a decision it’s strictly based on the slight shade difference.
Above are my swatches of both polishes. I remember when I lived in NYC in the Summer of 2010, and literally every girl was sporting ‘Mint Candy Apple’ after it came out in the 2009 winter collection. I had already owned American Apparel’s ‘Office’ but I just couldn’t resist buying ‘Mint Candy Apple’ as well! To the average person, these two colors may seem one and the same, but to us beauty lovers, they are totally different! Am I right?!
I think American Apparel’s ‘Office’ is slightly darker and more green. I personally think that ‘Mint Candy Apple’ flatters my skin tone better because of the blue undertones, but both colors are a great choice.
