Valentine’s Day Lip Products
Valentines Day is just days away and it’s officially time to get your lips pucker-ready! I have test and tried a variety of lip products ranging from plumpers to balms and lipsticks, and have chosen a list of my top lip products for Valentines Day 2016!
The Lip Products
1. Love + Sage Mint Condition Lip Balm ($12)
The first step of making sure your lips are pucker-ready is to begin with a nourishing lip balm. Winter tends to dry out more than just our skin and hair, and no one wants to apply lipstick to a flaky surface. The Love + Sage Mint Condition Balm is one of my favorite lip balms right now – not only because of it’s nourishing shea butter and avocado oil formula, but because of it’s soothing mint flavor. It instantly hydrates my lips, and protects them from drying out from the harsh winter weather. The brand has also launched a Beach Rose lip balm that has a pink tint if you’re looking for a more subtle alternative to wearing lipstick. Buy at loveandsagenyc.com.
2. Candylipz Lip Plumper Model B (Original) ($69.99) ($40.99)
Being in the Kylie Jenner lip era, there are constantly new lip plumping products launching and it’s tough to know which ones work and don’t work. Forget the plumping glosses (which don’t usually work), and feast your eyes on the Candylipz Lip Plumper. The device may look slightly intimidating at first, but then again apples are completely harmless so there’s really no need to be nervous! The fruit-shaped plumper opens up to reveal a silicone suction. I have been using this plumper for a couple of months now and I’m always receiving compliments on my lips and even accusations that I got lip fillers! This plumper is currently on sale for $40.99 so it’s the perfect time to invest in your pout! Buy at candylipz.com.
3. Jurlique Rose Love Balm ($10)
What would Valentines Day be without roses? Or at least the scent of them somewhere. The Jurlique Rose Love Balm is not only perfect for nourishing and hydrating your lips, but it also is infused with the natural scent of roses. I personally am infatuated with anything rose-scented, so I use this lip balm all year round. It comes in a cute circular jar tin and the balm is not tinted, so you can wear it underneath lipstick or just by itself for a natural look. The soothing salve formula can also be used on cuticles, elbows, or anywhere skin is chafed or irritated, so it’s an essential item to keep in your purse. Buy at beauty.com or jurlique.com.
4. Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipstick in “Show Off” ($4.90)
Now onto the lipstick! There are gazillions of red lipsticks out there but I wanted to recommend one of my personal favorites – the Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipsticks in shade, “Show Off”. It’s a daring warm red shade that is flattering on a variety of skin tones. The Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lipsticks are not only highly pigmented with an ultra-soft texture, but they also are infused with argan oil and work to make a statement and moisturize lips at the same time. The Hard Candy lipstick collection is also super affordable, so it’s worth stocking up your collection with all the lust-worthy shades available. Buy at walmart.com.
5. Kiko Milano Angel Kiss Set – Champagne & Strawberries ($6.90)
I recently discovered the Kiko Milano cosmetic brand, and can’t believe I wasn’t using their products sooner. The Champagne & Strawberries set is a duo of an exfoliating lip scrub and a nourishing lip balm. It’s the perfect way to get your lips pucker-ready for Valentines Day, but also makes an amazing gift as it comes packaged so present-like. The sugar crystals in the scrub are champagne and strawberry-scented like the balm, and leave your lips feeling incredibly smooth after use. I have used many different lip scrubs since my lips tend to dry out easier, and this one is definitely one of the most effective in smoothing them out. Buy at kikocosmetics.com.
6. Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint in “Very Naughty” ($36)
The Tata Harper Lip & Cheek Tint is not only the perfect alternative to wearing lipstick, but it also doubles as a natural blush. It comes in a variety of shades ranging from pinks to reds, but my personal favorite for Valentines Day is the aptly-named shade, “Very Naughty”. It gives your lips a natural bitten flush of red without all the maintenance that comes with wearing red lipstick. This lip tint also comes packaged in an adorable green and gold container that fits perfectly even in the smallest of clutches. Another great thing about this lip tint is that you can build the color to appear brighter by applying more and more layers. The formula is even said to adapt to compliment any skin shade, so its versatility truly makes it a Valentines Day must-have. Buy at Nordstrom.com.
7. TRUE Isaac Mizrahi Satin Lip Shine in “Girls Pink” ($18)
Lip glosses are totally making a come back and what better way to compliment a freshly plumped pout than with a flattering shiny finish? The TRUE Isaac Mizrahi Lip Shines work especially well to accentuate lips because of their peppermint oil and coffee extract-filled formula. My personal favorite and top choice shade for Valentines Day is “Girls Pink” because it’s such a feminine and romantic shade. Buy at QVC.com.
8. Rimmel The Only One Lipstick in “You’re All Mine” ($7.25)
Last but certainly not least, I have chosen the Rimmel The Only One Lipstick in “You’re All Mine” to be a Valentines Day must-have. Aptly named, “The Only One”, this lipstick combines lost-lasting color, moisture, and all day wear. “You’re All Mine” is the perfect shade of pink, as it isn’t too bright yet still gives your lips a strong pop of color. It has the slightest shimmer, which makes your lips appear more full and eye-catching. I love that this lipstick is ultra-moisturizing, and doesn’t dry out my lips throughout wear. This makes it the perfect lipstick to consistently re-apply through the day. Buy at Walmart.com or Drugstore.com.
