MAC recently released their Divine Night Collection for Holiday 2013, and the highly anticipated lipsticks are already sold out online! However, the collection releases in-stores today, so there’s still a chance to grab one of these 5 limited edition colors. Being a lipstick junkie, I am dedicating this post solely on the Divine Night lipsticks, but will post links at the end to blogs that have done reviews on the entire collection.
“You’ve Got It” is described as a “pink undertone with gold frost.” It is a beige-nude with a frost finish. Normally I obsess over any type of MAC nude lipstick, but this color seems to be a bit too sheer for me, and I’m not sure how much I like the gold shimmer. The amazing Temptalia blogger posted swatches of all these colors, and said this color is actually more of a layering shade than a color to wear alone.
“Flair For Finery” is described as a “Cool/Pink Nude.” It is a very transparent cool toned light pink with a Lustre finish. This is the type of lipstick that would look different on many people because it is slightly translucent, so the natural lip color will determine how dark or light it appears. I have more pigment in my lips so I think this color would look darker on me than others. I think this is my favorite of the entire collection because it’s such a versatile color and can be worn both in the day and at night.
“Exclusive Event” is described as a “Taupe Brown.” It is a cooler toned brown with a Satin finish. Judging from Temptalia’s swatches, the color looks very creamy with great coverage. I personally can’t pull off brown lipsticks but if you can, this seems like a great choice!
“Private Party” is described as a “Dirty Plum Mauve.” It is a moderately dark plum shade with a satin finish and opaque coverage. Plums and wine colored lipsticks are an obviously fitting choice for fall, and this particular shade is great if you want a more subtle dark lip. This shade seems more like a dark pink than plum on the lips, but overall it’s a great fall color.
“Prepare For Pleasure” is described as a “Clean Magenta Red.” It is a cool toned magenta-red with a Cremesheen finish. This color is my favorite of the bunch because I have been on the hunt for a great cool toned classic red lipstick. The Cremesheen finish is also a personal preference of mine so I can’t wait to try out this shade.
