“Things can get a little steamy in the cab-ana”
With the mixed reviews of Essie’s Spring collection, “Madison Ave-Hue,” it was only Essie’s civil duty to head back to the color palettes and create a collection of colors that would really get us excited!
As much as I am obsessing over “In the cab-ana,” I’m not sure I can say the same for the other colors. But what I was really disappointed about was how they used a very similar color scheme to the Spring collection, just in shades darker/lighter! “In the cab-ana” is similar to “Avenue Maintain” being that it’s a turquoise-like blue, “Under Where” is just a lighter “Bond With Whomever,” and “Come here” is a few shades off from “Hip-Anema” (not to mention Essie seems to always just throw in a red even if it’s a complete dupe of another color they already have.) I suppose I can give them credit for “First Timer” because it is quite different, but when it comes to green nail polish, I prefer to stick to pastel shades like “Mint Candy Apple.”
That being said, I am hoping Essie recharges those creative juices and steers away from the same color scheme, and branches out a little. Even if these are summer colors, there’s so many other ways they could have really differentiated the collection from the Spring’s .
What did you think of Essie’s 2013 Resort Collection? Were you impressed, or did you think it was too similar to the Spring’s? Let me know in the comments below!
