As any nail-fanatic will tell you, the wait for next season’s collection is almost unbearable! And I must say that these 6 new shades are bright enough to get even an ice queen out of her winter blues. Essie Weingarten named each one of these after a famous (and fashionable!) street-so go ahead and take a wild guess at what “Madison Ave-Hue” is named after!
“Madison Ave-Hue” (New York) is a gorgeous blue-toned shimmery pink that just has Legally Blonde written all over it. I personally would like this color much more if it didn’t have sparkles in it. I’m more a fan of opaque colors but I have a feeling this color will be a hit, considering Essie named this entire collection after it.
“Go Ginza” (Tokyo) is a soft mix of lavender and pale-pink that is similar to Essie’s Lilacism, but less blue and more pink. It’s a great pastel color, and with lavender being one of my favorite colors, I will definitely be trying this alternative out this Spring season.
“Avenue Maintain” (Paris) is a Parisian blue shade that is similar to OPI’s “Ogre-The-Top Blue.” I read that people thought this shade seemed similar to Essie’s “Coat Azure” but actually, Coat Azure has a shimmer finish, while “Avenue Maintain” is completely opaque! (My favorite!) I really like this blue, it’s probably my favorite of this collection.
“Bond With Whomever” (London) is a subtle lavender similar to OPI’s ” Done Out in Deco.” It’s also kind of a mix between two Essie colors-It’s darker than “Lilacism” but lighter than “Play Date.” It’s such a great alternative to pastel lavender, and I’m looking forward to trying this color out!
“Maximillian Strass-her” (Munich) is a greyish green similar to Essie’s “Absolutely Shore” but less pastel-like and more army-green. This color is a favorite among many of the beauty bloggers I follow, but it doesn’t really jump out at me. I personally prefer “Mint Candy Apple” to this one, as I’m not a huge fan of the grey and green combination.
“Hip-Anema” (Rio de Janeiro) is an orangey-red similar to Essie’s “Fifth Avenue.” It seems Essie always throws in a red to most of their seasonal collections. At this point, there are so many reds to choose from, so I can’t say I will buy this one even though it’s a great color. I have Essie’s Fifth Avenue, and that is close enough for me.
What did you think of Essie’s Spring 2013 collection? Which ones are your favorites? Also, stay tuned for a review of some of these great spring colors in the near future :) xoxo
